We had a fabulous start to the New Year with a great bunch of puppies and owners enrol in Middle Brighton Puppy Preschool.

We had 6 wonderful pups: Ebony the Standard Poodle, Ginger the Cavoodle, Lenny the Cocker Spaniel, Max the Cavoodle, Ralph the Golden Retriever and the very tiny Moodle, Rani.

There was a lot of learning over the 4 weeks – starting with the theory lesson on how dogs learn and the importance of setting them up to succeed. We talked about the 3 moments when we can influence behaviour – at the thinking about stage, the doing it stage and then there is the done it stage.

The next lesson was at the clinic – we practised loose lead walking,  talked about the importance of massage, and give and take. Then for the last 2 lessons we headed out to Sillitoe Reserve on Ludstone Street in Hampton for some actual life lessons! How to read other dog’s body language and practising the recall at the park with distractions. Not easy but we discussed ways to set each pup up to succeed.

We missed our friend, Ralph and his owners at Graduation:(

I was really impressed with the pups and their owners – well done!
