When Is a Cat Considered a Senior?

Every cat ages differently, but we generally consider cats to be entering their senior years from around 10 years of age.

Some senior cats continue to behave like mischievous kittens well into their teens, while others develop age-related health conditions earlier. That is why we focus on the individual cat rather than simply their age.

From around 10 years of age, we usually recommend six-monthly health checks rather than annual visits. Cats age much more quickly than we do, and a lot can change in six months.

Regular monitoring allows us to stay one step ahead and make small adjustments before problems become bigger concerns.

Changes that might seem like normal ageing can sometimes be early indicators of an underlying health condition.
